Distinguished by the following combination of characters: abdominal keel reaching from vicinity of posterior edge of pectoral-fin base to vertical through anus; adipose fin present; 47-57 branched anal-fin rays; nasal barbel extending past posterior edge of orbit; maxillary barbel reaching midpoint of pelvic fin; medial mental barbel extending beyond level of pectoral-spine origin; lateral mental barbel not reaching posterior margin of opercle; pectoral-fin spine reaching or surpassing vertical through pelvic-fin origin; dorsal-fin origin posterior of midpoint of distance between pectoral and pelvic-fin origins; pelvic-fin origin just posterior of level of posterior insertion of dorsal fin; pelvic fin extending to anal-fin origin; 14-20 gill rakers; predorsal length 25.5-31.0% SL; and body depth at anus usually greater than body depth at dorsal-fin origin (Ref. 56056).Description: Anal-fin rays iii-iv,47, 48, 50, 51, 52, 53, 55, or -57; pelvic-fin rays i,5 (Ref. 56056).
