Description: moderately deep-bodied, with relatively small head and straight frontal profile; caudal fin slightly rounded (Ref. 52307).Coloration: body dark gray-brown; most body scales with red dot at center, more intense in males; no other special coloration patterns are seen in females (Ref. 52307). Adult males: cheeks bluish-gray; front of head and parts of neck pale violet; flanks orange-brown; dorsum gray; belly region and caudal peduncle pale gray in most specimens; numerous red maculae visible in dorsal and caudal fin, anal fin with larger, lightly-ocellated, red egg spots (Ref. 52307).
