Michener (1968) describes nests collected from a roadside bank near Empoloweni river, near Durban, South Africa. The burrows were in a shady are of bank, about 10 cm deep, at the end of which was an oval gallery containing a cell cluster supported by earthen pillars extending out in all directions. The cells were horizontal. Each nest contained only one female, but because only two nests were excavated, the social status of the species is uncertain.
