Diagnostic Description
provided by EOL authors
The original description (Oshima 1926) states that the second dorsal fin has 14 rays and the anal fin also has 14 rays. Based on these data alone, it is unlikely that this species belongs in Parapocryptes. No species of Parapocryptes has fewer than 25 second dorsal- or anal-fin rays. Within the subfamily Oxudercinae, only species of Periophthalmus and Periophthalmodon have 14 second dorsal- or anal-fin rays. The type material needs to be examined but its location is unknown.
