There is a specimen present in K, collected by T. A. Rao bearing the number 7716B instead of 7716 from the same locality and the same date. This seems to be a duplicate (isotype) of the type specimen.

Erect, up to 30 cm tall herbs, stem not much branched, covered with white cottony wool. Leaves 1-5 x 0.3-0.8 cm, alternate, subopposite, spreading almost horizontal to the ground, oblong, ± amplexicaul at the base, densely woolly beneath, laxly on the upper surface, obtuse. Capitula in much branched corymbs, terminal, c. 2 mm across; peduncle c. 2 mm, densely woolly; phyllaries 5-6-seriate, purplish at the apex, outer most broadly ovate to cordate, not scarious, with laciniate margins, densely white woolly, middle phyllaries oblong, lanceolate, innermost spathulate. Female florets filiform, corolla 2-3 mm long, bisexual florets (functionally male) tubular, c. 2 mm long, corolla 5-lobed. Cypselas of the female florets c. 0.5 mm long, oblong; pappus setae white minutely bristly.

Habitat

Similar to Anaphalis contorta but differs in having broader leaves which are subopposite and the phyllaries are purpish at the apex and laciniate at the margin.
