Plants annual, ca. 30 cm tall. Stem erect or ascending from base, succulent, with dense spreading hairs apically. Leaves alternate, petiolate or sessile in upper leaves; petiole 3-5 cm, with glands; leaf blade broadly elliptic to elliptic, 9-12 × 4.5-5.5 cm, both surfaces sparsely pubescent, base attenuate, margin crenate, apex acute. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils, 2- or 3-flowered; peduncles ca. 2 cm, densely pubescent. Pedicels ca. 1.5 cm, densely pubescent, bracteate at base (but appearing as though at middle); bracts persistent, linear, ca. 8 mm, pubescent. Flower yellow, with reddish spots, ca. 3 cm, ca. 4 cm deep. Lateral sepals 2, ovate, ca. 0.9 mm, apex acuminate, pubescent. Lower sepal navicular, limb ca. 1.2 cm deep, outside pubescent, narrowed into a spur ca. 2.4 cm. Upper petal nearly orbicular, ca. 1.4 × 1.8 cm, apex retuse, abaxial midvein conspicuously cristate, crista ca. 4 mm high; lateral united petals ca. 2.5 cm, 2-lobed; basal lobes broadly triangular-obovate, ca. 1.2 × 1.2 cm, apex truncate; distal lobes suborbicular, ca. 1.5 × 1.1 cm, apically obliquely retuse; auricle inflexed, reniform. Filaments linear; anthers ovoid, apex obtuse. Fl. Aug.
