Lycium shawii is the commonest Boxthorn in the Arabian Deserts. This year i was surprised to see it deciduous in winter. It was nice against the background of the Dead Sea. It was an unusually coudy day, so I used my pop-up flah and was quite happy with the result. Latyer in season tubular flowers appea (I think I posted a close up in my gallery last year).
This is the commonest desert Lycium found in Jordan and Israel. The flwoers change colour from pale violet to cream, thus directing-teahcing the insects where to look for nectar (in the younger violet lfowers) and not waist time in empty flowers.
