A dwarf, erect, densely branched glabrous (subglabrous) shrub. Leaves 8-20x5-8 mm, elliptic or elliptic-oblong, usually glabrous or with a few scattered bristly hairs on the upper surface, margins ciliate, recurved. Bracts ovate, flat, glabrous on both surfaces, margin ciliate sometimes connate at the base. Calyx glabrous, teeth short. Corolla 2-2.5 cm long, yellow, tubular tube; narrow and gibbous at the base, slightly widened upwards, unequally 5-lobed, lobes rounded, much smaller than corolla tube. Stamens and style slightly exserted. Berries in pairs, free or more or less confluent, ovoid, red.
