Diceroprocta knighti is restricted to the Sonoran Desert, being found primarily in the Mexican Highland Section of the Basin and Range Province. Sanborn & Phillips (2013) reported finding it associated with creosote bush (Larrea tridentata), palo verde (Cercidium spp.), mesquite (Prosopis spp.), and ocotillo (Fouguieria splendens). (Sanborn & Phillips 2013).
