Suffruticose, 16 – 18 cm or more tall, with woody, glabrescent to almost glabrous stems. Leaves mostly in the middle or lower half of stem, pinnately dissected more than half way to the midrib, 0.7 – 1.2 (-1.5) cm long incl. petioles, apically bifid, uppermost leaves always linear and entire, 5 – 8 mm long, acute. Capitula radiate, solitary, terminal, 6 – 9 (-10) mm across, longer than broad. Involucre hemispherical, 3-seriate, phyllaries oblong-lanceolate, 3.5 – 4.5 mm long, sparsely pilose externally with woolly scarious apical appendages and sometimes pale-brown margins. Ray-florets female, fertile, with 9 – 11 mm long ligules. Disc florets yellow, with 3 (-4) mm long, 5-toothed corolla tube. Cypselas oblong, 1.5 – 2 mm long, pale-brown. Pappus shortly coroniform, 0.25 (- 0.5) mm long, sometimes dissected into short rigid teeth.
