Sphenacanthid acantharea, spicules of different shape and different length, 2 equatorial spicules are more developed and have a massive striated cornet with irregular margins; e spicules pass through a thick shell which has 2 oval pores and 5-6 sutural pores around each spicule. Axopods are associated with the sutural pores; periplasmic cortex is attached to the small spicules by 6-12 myonemes. Monotypic.
