Tintinnid ciliate, cells in a lorica with a handle usually around 95 x 20 microns large. Shape cup-shaped. Handle usually around 40 microns long. One ellipsoid to macronucleus usually below the center. Contractile vacuole in the anterior part. 9 - 10 ciliary rows, which are developed continuously from individual basal bodies and possess 5 - 8 microns long cilia. 11 adoral membranelles (bases 4 - 5 microns long). Lorica cylindrical to slightly funnel-shaped, 40 - 152 microns long, in the back usually rounded, sometimes tapering. The lorica length and the lining with foreign bodies show seasonal differences.
