Description of Hoplonymphidae

provided by BioPedia
Hypermastigid with flagella restricted to the anterior rostrum without a rostral tube. Two symmetrical flagellar areas are separated by cytoplasmic bands. In each flagellar area, longitudinal rows of flagella are not separated by cytoplasmic lanes as in Trichonymphidae. Parabasal fibres do not form a rostral tube. One set of privileged basal bodies is present on the top of each flagellar area and is connected to a set of pelta-axostylar fibres, parabasal fibres, and to one atractophore. Parabasal bodies are short and localized in the nuclear region. Four genera: Barbulanympha, Hoplonympha, Urinympha, Rhynchonympha.
