provided by BioPedia
Shell half-coiled, organic sometimes with few attached particles. Marine species. Volutella was described as having a transparent completely organic test, sometimes with few encrusted mineral particles (Chardez, 1972). Sudzuki (1979a) described circular plates which indicate affinities to the Euglyphida. Golemansky (1992) places the Family under the Monothalamida.
