Test free, more or less flexible and varying in consistency from soft and flaccid to stiff but somewhat elastic. Composed of one or more plate-like parts. Occurrence: One species has been recorded from three closely spaced localities in the abyssal northeast Atlantic but the vast majority of records are from the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Type species Stannophyllum zonarium Haeckel, 1889.
