Spores anteriorly pointed, truncate posteriorly, many filamentous projections along posterior end. Binucleate sporoplasm. Trophozoites with intracellular stages, polysporous. Several species coelozoic in urinary tract of freshwater fishes. Type species: Hoferellus cyprini (Doflein, 1898) Berg, 1898.
