Slo.: no name - CR: mesnati pupi, mesnati klobui - Habitat: Directly at sea shore, vertical stony wall, west oriented; calcareous ground; open, sunny and dry place, partly protected from direct rain by vertical and slightly overhanging rocks; average precipitations 1.000 -1.200 mm/year,average temperature 13-15 deg C, elevation 3 m (10 feet), Mediterranean phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil in rock crevices. - Comment: Growing in a group of several plants - some plants apparently from bare rock. Flowers are still in buds. A strange looking plant with unusually shaped, meaty leaves. Not present on Slovenian part of Adriatic Sea shore. - Ref.: (1) R.
