Chinchilla lanigera (Long Tailed Chinchilla) is a species of rodents in the family Chinchillidae. They are listed as endangered by IUCN and in cites appendix i. They are native to The Neotropics. They are solitary, nocturnal herbivores. Individuals are known to live for 135.6 months and can grow to 305 mm. Reproduction is viviparous.
