For some reason, this fairly big Cooter swam directly up to me, and didn't realize what was going on until it bumped into the camera. Maybe I was putting out some kind of giant turtle vibe...Alexander Springs Recreation Area, Ocala National Forest, Altoona Florida, USASeaLife DC1400

Not to brag, but I'm usually pretty good about sneaking up on stuff; I come and go like the wind... (underwater) and I often get to experience things close up that most people never even see. Sometimes though, the wildlife comes right to me, which is the always best. Every time this happens, I get the feeling they're just curious, and then, when they realize it's just some goofball human with a camera, or they bump right into me, they take off. Sadly, the residents have to deal with all this algae on a daily basis. The blobs also get in the way of a perfectly good shot sometimes.Alexander Springs Recreation AreaOcala National ForestLake County FloridaOlympus OM-D E-M5 Mark IIOlympus 14-42mm II LensPT-EP13 Underwater Housing, PPZR-EP02 Lens Port & 14-42mm Zoom GearSea Life Sea Dragon 2000 & 1200 Underwater Lights30 June 2021

Before this cooter realizes it's just another goofball with a camera, it swam right up to me and I got a few up close and personal. This old Cooter has seen better days, what with a bad eye, some kind of growth, and a few miles under it's shell, but it's still got some spunk left.We managed to slip right up to it in a canoe and get some close ups without disturbing it a bit. Not 30 seconds after we drifted on downstream, an idiot came by and tried to "pet" it with an oar, and it disappeared into the river like a rocket. Shame it didn't bite her though.Weeki Wachee RiverHernando County FloridaOlympus OM-D E-M5 Mark IIOLYMPUS M.14-42mm F3.5-5.6 II R

Why scour the bottom for food on your own, when you can follow after Cecil and see what gets stirred up. Let the turtle do all the work.Alexander Springs Recreation AreaOcala National ForestLake County FloridaOlympus OM-D E-M514-42mm II LensPT-EP08 Underwater Housing, PPO-EP01 Lens Port & 14-42mm Zoom Gear

When we spotted this cooter basking near the bank from the canoe, I figured it might spook, so I decided to just slip in with the topside camera and sneak up on it, but I had to go in even up to my chest to get up close. I still had my suit on, so it wasn't too bad, and the EM-5 Mark II is "splashproof".Weeki Wachee RiverHernando County FloridaOlympus OM-D E-M5 Mark IIOLYMPUS M.14-42mm F3.5-5.6 II R
