The genus Neoplatypedia is related to Platypedia. It is distinguished primarily by the costal margin and number of apical cells in the fore wings and is the only other member of the Platypediini. Both Neoplatypedia species are restricted to North America north of Mexico. (Sanborn & Phillips 2013)
