Diceroprocta lata is known from Texas (U.S.A.) and Mexico (Sanborn & Phillips 2013).
This species was originally described as a variety of D. texana. It was subsequently reported from the United States and elevated to species status in part based on the distinct distribution of this species relative to D. texana. Diceroprocta texana is associated with Larrea tridentata and Prosopis grandulosa in the Chihuahuan Desertand desert grasslands phytogeographic regions. Diceroprocta lata is also associated with Prosopis glandulosa in desert grasslands, but on the edges of the Chihuahuan Desert. (Sanborn & Phillips 2013).
