Honeycomb Worm

Sabellaria spinulosa (Leuckart 1849)

Brief Summary

provided by Ecomare
Ross worms live in colonies, very close together. In that way, they form reefs, which in turn make a good habitat for other animal species, such as sea barnacles and starfish. They live in very dynamic environments where sand is churned up through water motion. Such a reef always begins on existing hard structures, such as shells, stones and boulders.
