Scolelepis cirratulus

Brief Summary

provided by Ecomare
The Scolelepis squamata is the only worm that you regularly find alive on the beach. The worm has two long curved tentacles on its head. It lives mostly close to the low-tide mark. What you see most of this animal is its small hole which becomes visible when the wave retreats. Sanderlings grab these worms when they stick out of their hole to catch food in the water.
