Epinecrophylla spodionota, tamién denomináu hormiguerito ecuatorianu (en Colombia y Ecuador),^[3] ye una especie d'ave paseriforme perteneciente al xéneru Epinecrophylla qu'integra la familia Thamnophilidae. Ye nativu d'América del Sur.

Distribución y hábitat

Distribuyir poles estribaciones orientales de los Andes dende'l sur de Colombia, por Ecuador, hasta'l sur del Perú.^[2]
Habita nel sotobosque de montes submontiegos ente los 600 y los 1425 m d'altitú.^[4]

Taxonomía

Diversos autores suxurieron que'l xéneru Myrmotherula nun yera monofiléticu, unu de los grupos que fueron identificaos como distintu del Myrmotherula verdaderu foi'l grupu haematonota, que los sos miembros comparten similaridades de plumaxe, de vezos d'alimentación y de vocalizacion. Finalmente, analís filoxenéticos de la familia conducíos por Isler et al. (2006), incluyendo 6 especies del grupu haematonota y más 12 de Myrmotherula, atoparon que los dos grupos nun taben hermanaos. P'aquel grupu describióse'l xéneru Epinecrophylla.^[5] La separación nel nuevu xéneru foi aprobada pola Propuesta N° 275 al South American Classification Committee (SACC) en mayu de 2007.^[6]
