Centrolene solitaria (Ruiz-Carranza & Lynch 1991)

Member of the Cochranella granulosa group with the following combination of characters: 1) vomerine dentition present, 2) green bones in life, 3) dorsal color in life is pale green with white flecks and dark green spotting, 4) white stripe on lip, 5) white tubercles on border of forearm, feet and cloaca, 6) snout blunt and rounded when viewed dorsally, 7) dorsal skin finely granulated and small warts which coincide with the white spots, 8) forearm, hand, ankle, and foot bordered with short tubercles Males small, 19.3mm SVL; nostril to anterior of eye is 69% of the eyes diameter; nostrils oriented anterolaterally and positioned anteriorly close to tip of snout; diameter of eye is 38.9% SVL; supratympanic fold not visible; tympanum diameter is 52.4% diameter of eye; vomerine teeth elliptical and positioned between choanae; vocal sac medial, subgular, and large; humeral spine absent. Length of tibia is 61.1% of SVL; ankles barely make contact when both hindlimbs are adpressed anteriorly; iris cream colored with horizontal stripe; pupil surrounded by orange ring.

Only known to occur from its type locality at the department of Caquetá, county of Florencia, Tarqui path, 39.3 km northwest through the road above Florencia, on the eastern slope of the Cordillera Oriental, 1º 48’ Latitude N, 75º 40’ W of Greenwich at 1410m.

Centrolene solitaria (common name: lonely Cochran frog) is a species of frog in the family Centrolenidae. Known only from its type locality in Florencia, Caquetá, it is endemic to Colombia.

Centrolene solitaria occurs in vegetation near streams in cloud forests, including secondary forests. A major threat to this species is habitat loss.
