Conus attenuatus, common name the thin cone, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Conidae, the cone snails and their allies.[1]
Like all species within the genus Conus, these snails are predatory and venomous. They are capable of "stinging" humans, therefore live ones should be handled carefully or not at all.
This species occurs in the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico; also off the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
The maximum recorded shell length is 28 mm.[2]
Minimum recorded depth is 10 m.[2] Maximum recorded depth is 81 m.[2]

Conus attenuatus is een in zee levende slakkensoort uit het geslacht Conus. De slak behoort tot de familie Conidae. Conus attenuatus werd in 1844 beschreven door Reeve.[1] Net zoals alle soorten binnen het geslacht Conus zijn deze slakken roofzuchtig en giftig. Zij bezitten een harpoenachtige structuur waarmee ze hun prooi kunnen steken en verlammen.[2]
