" An Actaea nearly akin to A. Flosculata, but differing from it in that, in place of the characteristic petaloid spines of the latter species, it is covered with stout, sharp thorns of an entirely different shape." From A. spinosissima it differs in the points indicated above, and from A. acantha A.-M. Edw., 1861, and A. hystrix Miers, 1886, in the greater size and smaller number of the spines.

Dredged in Miladumadulu Atoll in 25 fathoms."
