Short A1 - do not reach the end of the cephalothorax. Rostrum less distinctly bifurcate, with short filaments fused at the base.
Debatably bipolar species. North-eastern Pacific.
Oceanic, bathypelagic species. Encountered at depths of 600-700m
Females: Rostrum highly chitinised and very prominent (the shape in lateral view differs somewhat from the figure given by Sars or A. Scott. Branches of the rostrum fused at the base. Head and 1st thoracic segment fused, 4th and 5th separate (the indication of a line of fusion is visible in lateral aspect on the back). A1 does not reach the end of the cephalothorax. Serrations of apical spines of exopodites of swimming legs very dense, short, without intervals. The outer spine on the first segment of the exopodite of P1 very short, does not reach the base of the next spine. Abdomen is 4 or 5 times shorter than the cephalothorax. Proportional lengths of urosomites and furca 35:24:17:10:14 = 100. mx1: outer lobe with 8 setae, exopod with 10 setae.
