Es troba a l'Atlàntic oriental (el golf de Guinea) i l'Atlàntic occidental (des del golf de Mèxic fins a Surinam).[4][6]
És inofensiu per als humans.[4]

Uroconger syringinus is een straalvinnige vissensoort uit de familie van zeepalingen (Congridae).[1] De wetenschappelijke naam van de soort is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1954 door Ginsburg.
