Dark brown with irregular dark spots anteriorly, interspersed with lighter granulations that form diffuse crossbars on the tail.Description: Characterized by Light brown color on head and front of body; dark brown over remainder of body, small black spots, white flecks; fin margins yellow; body depth at gill opening about 11-16 in TL; origin of dorsal fin anterior to gill opening; anus at about middle of body; five rows of canine teeth across front of upper jaw; two rows of teeth on each side of upper jaw; lower jaw with two rows of teeth in front, larger teeth in inner row (Ref. 90102).

體延長而呈圓柱狀,尾部側扁。吻圓;上下頜完全密合;上頜齒2-3排。脊椎骨數112-114。體色為暗棕色,頭部腹面色較淡,體側有許多明顯的黑點,約略規則排列成行,尾部有許多淡色的粒狀凸起,鰭邊緣為黃綠色。
棲地

主要棲息於潟湖或向海的珊瑚岩礁區域;通常被發現於拂浪區。喜歡隱藏在礁石間隙中,伺機捕食魚類或頭足類為生。
