Description: Characterized by variable coloration of brown and white lichen-like spots on head and body; distinctive dark and white oblique bars on fins; body depth at gill opening 15 in TL; low dorsal fin; origin of dorsal fin above or slightly anterior to gill opening; anus slightly posterior to middle of body; preanal length 1.9 in TL; single row of jaw teeth, sexually dimorphic; female upper jaw with small teeth in between larger teeth at front of jaw, about three larger teeth inside outer row teeth at side of jaw, medial row of intermaxillary with three enlarged teeth, these features are absent in male (Ref. 90102).
