Canary Moray

Moderately elongate moray with: mottled brown coloration, posterior jaw pores in white spots; dorsal-fin origin before gill openings; four infraorbital pores, one branchial pore; outer teeth serrate, maxillary teeth in two short rows, and vomerine teeth biserial; and mean vertebral formula (MVF) 5-55-130.

Depth range based on the 3 known specimens all of which have been collected from rocky bottom. May inhabit deep waters.

The Canary moray (Gymnothorax bacalladoi) is a moray eel of the family Muraenidae, found only around the Canary Islands in the eastern central Atlantic, at depths between 17 and 605 m. Its length is up to 35 cm.
