體呈槍尖形;兩眼均在左側;頭背緣輪廓呈弧形。頭小。吻短鈍。下眼稍前於上眼,眼間隔窄,兩眼間有一狹小骨脊;上眼前方具一淺凹。口大,上頜延伸至下眼前緣後方,上頜比眼徑長;上下頜齒小,上下頜在眼及盲側均具頜齒;腭骨無齒。鰓膜不與峽部相連;鰓耙短小不呈鋸齒狀。體被易脫落之小圓鱗,兩側皆被圓鱗,奇鰭鰭條被鱗;眼側具側線,盲側無側線;側線鱗數88-116。背鰭正常,軟條數18-110;臀鰭正常,軟條83-87;胸鰭短於頭長;左右腹鰭不對稱;尾鰭尖圓形。體淡棕色,各鰭色較深暗,
尾鰭中央呈黑色;盲側乳黃色。
棲地
