Trophic Strategy

provided by Fishbase
Inhabit inshore waters to 4 m depth in brackish-water estuaries, amongst mangroves and river mouths. Feed on snails. Exhibit a behavior searching for snails. On these occasions, puffers swam just beneath the surface, circling and examining submergent and emergent roots and branches. It tilted its body so one eye could survey the root or branch (Ref. 75737). Puffers jump partially out of the water to prey or attempt to prey on a snail (Ref. 75737).
