Adults are common in rocky shore areas. They feed on algae and detritus (Ref. 9137). Attain less than 9 cm TL. Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114). Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters (Ref. 94114).

體延長,稍側扁。枕骨區無冠膜;鼻鬚具2絲,眼上鬚呈掌狀分支,頸鬚無。上下唇平滑;齒小,埋於唇中,多少可活動,上下頜各側皆具一犬齒。背鰭具缺刻,具硬棘XII,軟條16-17;臀鰭具硬棘II,軟條18;背、臀鰭最後軟條皆以鰭膜與尾柄相連。體為淺褐色,體側散佈深褐色點,另有7-8條橫帶,喉部具紋斑。背鰭第I-II棘間有一黑斑;背鰭、臀鰭及尾鰭散佈雜斑及條紋;胸鰭與腹鰭較暗色。
棲地

The Yatabe blenny (Parablennius yatabei) is a species of combtooth blenny found in the northwest Pacific Ocean along the coasts of southern Japan and Korea. This species reaches a length of 9 centimetres (3.5 in) TL.[2] The specific name was coined in memory of Jordan and Snyder's friend and fellow alumnus at Cornell University the botanist Riokichi Yatabe [1851-1899] who drowned in an accident while on holiday in Japan.[3]
