Praealticus tanegasimae (Jordan & Starks 1906)

Nasal cirrus simple and supraorbital cirrus long, a little pinnate. Nuchal cirrus absent. Occipital crest in male, none in female. Some oblique lines distinct on cheek.

Oviparous, distinct pairing (Ref. 205).

Inhabits surge, rocky shore areas. Grows to less than 14 cm TL. Oviparous (Ref. 205).

Adults inhabit surge, rocky shore areas. Grow to less than 14 cm TL. Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114). Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters (Ref. 94114).

分布於西太平洋區，包括台灣、日本及關島等。台灣分布於東部、南部、北部及綠島等海域。

小型魚類，僅具學術研究價值。

體延長，稍側扁。雄魚頭頂有高、薄的冠膜，雌魚無；鼻鬚單一不分支；眼上鬚呈羽毛狀；無頸鬚。上下唇具鋸齒緣。D. XIII-XIV, 17-19； A. II, 18-20；P. 15；V. I, 3。背鰭具深缺刻，背鰭與臀鰭皆不與尾柄相連。眼後自冠膜至上唇有一色帶，頰部有5-6條黑褐色斜紋，吻部有黑褐紋，體側有6-7對灰黑色帶；背鰭黑色，第I-II棘間有黑斑；活魚時，體側有許多銀藍點；雄魚體色淺黃綠色，成熟雄魚背鰭和尾鰭上半末端橙黃色，雌魚體色為綠色，末緣不具橙黃色。

主要棲息於於高潮線的岩礁區。

Praealticus tanegasimae is a species of combtooth blenny found in the western Pacific ocean. This species grows to a length of 5.9 centimetres (2.3 in) SL.
