Barred Chin Blenny

Teeth on jaws immovable, fewer than 40 in each jaw. Terminal anal fin ray connected by membrane to caudal peduncle. Nasal and supraorbital cirri simple, nuchal cirri absent. Both sexes with occipital crest.

Oviparous, distinct pairing (Ref. 205).

Inhabit intertidal reef flats, benches, and rocky shorelines exposed to strong wave action.

Adults are usually found on the outer reef front of surge channels and pools, exposed to heavy surf. Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114). Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters (Ref. 94114).

體延長，稍側扁；頭較小。頭頂無冠膜；眼上鬚、鼻鬚單一不分支；無頸鬚。上下唇平滑，齒骨具犬齒，齒固著不可動。D. XII-XIII, 18-20； A. II, 21； P. 14；V. I, 3。背鰭無缺刻，最後一棘短小，背鰭、臀鰭最後軟條與尾柄以膜相連；雌魚臀鰭埋在體內。體色黃綠色，頭有銀白點，頭部後緣有黑斑，鼻孔有5條黑紋，頭下方有一U形紋，體側有6-7條橫帶和白色短紋；背鰭、尾鰭有數列透明斑點；臀鰭灰黑色末緣較深；胸鰭灰色，基部有一黑色半月形紋；腹鰭黑色。/Rhabdoblennius ellipes/為同種異名。

主要棲息於珊瑚礁的浪拂區緣，以藻類、碎屑和小型無脊椎動物為食。

Rhabdoblennius nitidus, the barred-chin blenny, is a species of combtooth blenny found in coral reefs in the western Pacific ocean. This species reaches a length of 8.3 centimetres (3.3 in) SL.
