Small and slender supraorbital tentacle; in males, first spine of first dorsal fin higher than first spine of second dorsal fin; in females, first dorsal fin a little less than 50% shorter than second dorsal fin; females whitish, with fine black dots, bearing a reticular red or brown pattern, isolating the white into 2-3 longitudinal rows of blotches; male coloration similar but generally darker. Dorsal rays III + XI-XIII + 7-10; lateral line interrupted, 14-20 + 14-21; mandibular pores 3-4 + 1 + 3-4 (Ref. 54980).

Biology

Female members of the Tripterygiidae have eggs that are hemispherical and covered with numerous sticky threads that anchor them in the algae on the nesting sites (Ref. 240). Larvae are planktonic which occur primarily in shallow, nearshore waters (Ref. 94114).

Enneapterygius triserialis, the white-spotted triplefin, is a species of triplefin blenny in the genus Enneapterygius. It was described by Ronald Fricke in 1994. This species occurs in the southwest Pacific from Australia east through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Tonga, Fiji, American Samoa and French Polynesia.
