Interpelvic process small and bifid. Lateral line with many auxiliary branches extending dorsally and ventrally in anterior third, gradually curving down toward caudal peduncle. Intestine with 4 folds and 5 limbs. Swim bladder absent. Body covered with small scales. Sides silvery with spots scattered along lateral median line.

Migration

體延長,側扁,體高顯然長於頭長;尾柄細,兩側在尾鰭基處各具3條隆起脊,中央脊長而高,其餘二脊短而低。頭中大,稍側扁。吻尖突,大於眼徑。眼較小,位近頭的背緣。口中大,端位,斜裂;上下頜等長,上下頜齒各具齒一列,齒強大,側扁,三角形,8-9枚,排列稀疏;腭骨及鋤骨亦具齒,舌上無齒。第一鰓弓上之鰓耙數為1-2+9-12。脊椎骨數46-47。體被細小圓鱗,易脫落,側線鱗較大,腹部大部分裸露無鱗;側線完全,無分枝,沿背側呈波浪狀伸達尾鰭基。第一背鰭具硬棘XIV-XVII,與第二背鰭起點距離近,其後具7-9個離鰭;臀鰭與第二背鰭同形;尾鰭新月形。體背藍灰色,腹部銀白色,體側具2-3列褐斑。第一背鰭黑色;餘鰭灰黑或灰色。

The Korean mackerel (Scomberomorus koreanus) also known as the Korean seerfish, is a ray-finned bony fish in the family Scombridae, better known as the mackerel family. More specifically, this fish is a member of the tribe Scomberomorini, the Spanish mackerels. It has an Indo-Pacific distribution which extends from the east coast of India and Sri Lanka along the Asian continental shelf to Sumatra then north to Korea and Wakasa Bay in the Sea of Japan.[3] This species is of minor commercial importance in some parts of its range where it is taken using gill nets and is marketed either fresh or dried-salted. The Korean mackerel is an important quarry species for the drift net fishery in Palk Bay and the Gulf of Mannar in India.[1]
