Las macondas o farolitos del género Synagrops son peces marinos de la familia acropomátidos, distribuidos por la plataforma continental de casi todos los océanos y mares del mundo con agua templada y tropical.[1]

Son peces marinos que suelen vivir pegados al fondo, entre las rocas, en aguas alejadas de la costa algo profundas, muchas de estas especies en el talud continental.[1]​ Algunas especies son pescadas y bien comercializadas.

Synagrops è un genere di pesci ossei di acqua salata appartenenti alla famiglia Acropomatidae.

Distribuzione e habitat

I pesci di questo genere vivono in quasi tutti i mari e gli oceani del mondo dal clima temperato o tropicale. Questi pesci sono soliti vivere vicino al fondale marino, spesso tra le rocce; molte delle specie del genere Synagrops vivono nelle scarpate continentali.

Pesca

Alcune specie sono pescate e spesso vendute, per via della prelibatezza delle loro carni.[1]

Elongate body with feeble cycloid scales, easily shed. Lateral line complete. 8-9 feeble spines in 1st dorsal. Some fin spines may be serrate. Canines and small teeth in bands in jaws. Teeth on vomer and palatine. Small fishes of deepish water of the Indo-Pacific, one species in the Western Indian Ocean; another one (S. philippiniensis) possibly occuring here.
