Batan Longfin

Posterior body scales with membranous flaps and ctenii, if present, very reduced, short and robust dorsal-and anal-fin spines, and the interradial membranes of the spinous dorsal fin weakly incised.Description: Characterized by mostly black color except white mid-dorsal band on head from upper lip to dorsal-fin origin and narrow white margins on dorsal, anal and caudal fins; two lateral lines, dorsal lateral line 33-35 tubed scales, lower lateral line 17-20 tubes scales; sensory on dentary 4; without papillae present on head; depth of body at origin of dorsal fin 4.8-5.0 in SL (Ref. 90102).

僅分布於中西太平洋區，即菲律賓之北部，台灣可能也有，需再確認。

小型魚類，不具食用價值。

體延長，側扁。頭中大。吻短；唇厚。眼中大。口端位，斜裂；上頜骨向後達眼後方。體前部除頭、頸、腹鰭前及胸鰭基均無鱗外，其餘均具圓鱗，體後部則具櫛鱗，鱗片末端延長，呈矛狀，而無櫛棘；具有側線2條，上方側線沿背緣延伸至背鰭基底末端，中央側線由肛門附近上方延伸至尾鰭中央鰭條基底。背鰭單一，硬棘部鰭膜間具淺刻，具硬棘XX，軟條2；臀鰭具硬棘XI，軟條2；胸鰭圓形；腹鰭稍延長；尾鰭圓形。福馬林標本，體呈暗色，鰓蓋較淡，上頜後部及鰓被架膜具許多小黑色素胞，頭背部由背鰭起點至下唇，有一不顯之白帶。背、臀鰭色深，鰭條末端色淡。

主要棲息於沿岸珊瑚礁區。穴居性，且魚體小型，行動極為隱密，不易觀察其生活習性。肉食性，以無脊椎動物為食。
