Suborbital spine absent. Preopercle with 3 transverse scale rows. Pectoral fins moderately long, reaching to or just short of level of anus. Pelvic fins moderately long, reaching to or just short of level anus. A line drawn up from posterior edge of suborbital reaching the dorsal profile at about the origin of dorsal fin. Females predominate at small sizes while males dominate the larger size classes. Maybe a sequential hermaphrodite. Axillary scale present. Color: Upper body iridescent pink, silvery white below. Lower margin of caudal fin white.

Inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms; also in sheltered estuaries (Ref. 48635). Feeds mainly on crustaceans and small fishes. Principal catch in the Taiwanese pair-trawl fishery off the coast of northwestern Australia.

分布於印度-西太平洋區，西起馬爾地夫，北至日本南部，南至澳洲皆有分布。台灣南部、綠島及蘭嶼海域皆可發現。

漁期全年皆有，可利用底拖網或延繩釣等漁法捕獲，魚肉細嫩，可用油炸、清蒸皆美味可口。

體呈長紡錘形，側扁；頭端略尖，頭背呈弧形，兩眼間隔區不隆突。吻中大。眼大；眶下骨的後上角具無銳棘，下緣平滑，上緣不具前向棘。口中大，端位；上頜具2-3對犬齒，不呈水平突出；鋤骨、腭骨及舌面均不具齒。前鰓蓋後緣平滑，頰鱗 3列。第一鰓弓鰓耙數9-12。體被大櫛鱗。背鰭連續而無深刻，具硬棘 X，軟條9；臀鰭硬棘III，軟條 7；胸鰭中長，末端達肛門；腹鰭中長，達肛門；尾鰭上下葉先端呈尖形，不呈絲狀延長。體呈淡粉紅色，腹面銀白色，體背具9條延伸至側線之暗斑；體側另具多條不顯之黃縱帶。背鰭淡玫塊紅而帶黃色光澤，外側為暗粉紅色；臀鰭藍白色；尾鰭淡玫塊紅而帶黃色光澤，下葉具白緣。

主要棲息於大陸棚砂泥底質的水域，棲息深度可達110公尺深。主要覓食甲殼類、頭足類或其他小魚等為食。

Nemipterus furcosus, the fork-tailed threadfin bream, also known as the rosy threadfin bream, is a species of threadfin bream native to Indian oceanic seas around Maldives, Sri Lanka, Andaman islands, and Pacific oceanic seas around Indonesia, and Australia. It inhabits areas with coral reefs at depths from 8 to 110 m (26 to 361 ft). This species can reach a length of 24 cm (9.4 in), though most are only around 18.0 cm (7.1 in). It typically has a silver colored belly and red color on its dorsal, head and tail.
