Shape resembles Corythionella, but circular in transverse section, with circular, regularly overlapping siliceous scales. apertural funnel less developed than in Corythionella. This genus differs from Pseudocorythion by the lack of a caudal horn. Typical ovular nucleus, few thin filopodia. Ecology: marine, littoral sands, bacteria- and algivore. Type species: Messemvriella filosa Golemansky, 1973.
