They are native to Cerrado, Distrito Federal, U.S. Virgin Islands, Mata Atlântica, Rio De Janeiro, Amazônia, Mato Grosso Do Sul, Ceará, Pernambuco, Puerto Rico, Espirito Santo, Bahia, Santa Catarina, Pará, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Paraná, GoiáS, RondôNia, Sergipe, Alagoas, SãO Paulo, Caatinga, ParaíBa, and Rio Grande Do Sul. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 15 m.
