Gaudichaudia pentandra A. Juss. Ann. Sci Nat. II. 13 : 252. 1840. Leaf-blades ovate-lanceolate to oblong, 3-5 cm. long, rather abruptly short-acuminate, finely pubescent on both sides, paler beneath than above, mostly rounded at the base, shortpetioled ; sepals oval, 3-4 mm. long, rounded at the apex, the glands much less than one half the length of the sepal-body; petals yellow, the larger ones 6.5-7.5 mm. long, the blades suborbicular, denticulate ; free portions of the filaments subulate, longer than the tube ; samaras obovate, 8-10 mm. long, each with a dorsal keel.
