Leaf-blades oblong, oval, suborbicular, or ovate, 1.5-5.5 cm. long, rounded or retuse, and sometimes mucronulate at the apex, light-green and usually somewhat shining above, glabrous, at least at maturity pale-green or glaucous and dull beneath, short-petioled; inflorescence short, corymbose, the branches sparingly pubescent or glabrous ; sepals ovate to oblong, 2.5-3 mm. long, the glands over one half the length of the sepal-body ; larger petals 5-5.5 mm. long; samaras 2-3 cm. long, the wing slightly dilated upward, sparingly pubescent, the body striate-veined, crownless.
Type locality : Tropical America.
Distribution: West Indies and northern South America.
