Biennial or perennial, 15-40 cm tall, erect, sometimes woody at base, rarely branched above, appressedly hairy with 2-3-partite hairs. Basal leaves ± rosulate, oblong-elliptic, 5-10 cm long, 5-12 mm broad, stalked, denticulate to subentire, acute; cauline leaves ± similar to the basal leaves, shortly stalked to sessile, becoming smaller above. Recemes 20-40-flowered, up to 15 cm long in fruit. Flowers c. 12 mm across, orange-yellow; pedicels 5-7 mm long in fruit, slightly thickened, spreading. Sepals 7-8 mm long. Petals 15-18 mm long, 4-5 mm broad. Stamens 7-9: 10-12 mm long; anthers c. 2.5 mm long. Siliquae linear-terete, 40-60 mm long, 1.5 mm broad, appressedly hairy ; valves with a distinct mid-rib; style 3-5 mm long with capitate, sub-bilobed stigma; seeds c. 1.7 mm long, oblong-ellipsoid, darkbrown.
