Herbaceous, 1-2 dm. high, branching near the base. I^eaves opposite, described as thick, fleshy, obovate to ovate-lanceolate ; inflorescence a spike-like equilateral raceme or somewhat paniculate ; flowers subsessile ; sepals lanceolate, 2-3 mm. long, acute ; petals distinct (?), 4-5 mm. long, oblong, acute, reddish ; carpels erect, long-acuminate.
Type locality : Near Corpus Christi, Texas. Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
