B. Mathew (l.c.) regards I. spuria as a "species aggregate" and recognizes 8 subspecies under it. Three of these subspecies, subsp. halophila (Pallas) B. Mathew & Wendelbo, subsp. sogdiana (Bunge) B. Mathew and subsp. notha (M. Bieb.) Aschers & Graebn. occur in Pakistan.
