They are native to Ceará, Paraná, Pernambuco, ParaíBa, Santa Catarina, Maranhao, Pará, Amazônia, Puerto Rico, Acre (Brazil), Minas Gerais, RondôNia, Rio Grande Do Sul, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso, SãO Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, Mata Atlântica, and Cerrado. They have simple, broad leaves. Individuals can grow to 21 m.
